Amber's Story: A 12-Year-Old Vizsla Puppy!
Amber has been an emotional support and source of joy for Vitality Fusion’s family ever since she arrived as an 8-week old puppy almost exactly 12 years ago. Today, as on that first day, she is full of love, energy and very playful (a rascal even!). She constantly reminds us of the value of a “pack mentality”: we are ALL interconnected, we all need each other. She shows us unconditional love and we show her lots of love back, with food, play and cuddling. Amber is absolutely a key member of the Vitality Fusion community.
However, as Amber has aged, her hips and low back have stiffened. Recently, her left hip stiffened to the point where she was immobile for a week. After an X-ray, it was clear where her bones and joints had degenerated. With this new visual clarity, I researched Xie’s Veterinary Acupuncture and his Chinese Veterinary Herbology textbooks, combining these two resources with insights from the work of Dr. Signe Beebe et al. in The Clinical Handbook of Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicine. With some additional research, I was able to develop a customized treatment protocol for Amber: I found helpful acupoints for Amber’s back and hip and decided on two herbal formulas (one is for overall well-being and one is for specific bone and joint pain and inflammation). Every day Amber is now receiving her powdered herbal formulations with her lunch. In the evening, she is receiving magnet therapy on specific acupoints related to two discrete meridians. When Amber is given her magnet therapy, I also do my magnet therapy. It’s become a fun end-of-day routine for both of us, as we relax and recharge together. The treatment only takes twenty minutes.
Amber is definitely bouncing back and feeling spry (like a puppy!) with this rehabilitation protocol. My husband and I are used to taking her on hikes, and this morning she did her first easy 2-mile jaunt since her bout of immobility. Go herbal medicine and magnets! I am so grateful that Meridian Medicine not only helps humans but also dogs, cats and horses. The same way exercise improves blood circulation throughout the body and helps with internal digestion, balancing your vital energy pathways supports your overall circulation and metabolism.
Herbal and Meridian Medicine are great adjuncts to other healthcare options. Amber’s story has lessons for all of us. A free 15-minute consultation is the first step to learning how to deal with your own health issues. You can balance your own energy pathways using Meridian Medicine and empower yourself to start on a new path of puppy-like vitality!
